Gooey Pie, An Aching Stomach . . . L.S.E.P.F. Pie Eating Contest Laughter roared through the bleachers. Banana, chocolate, vanilla. and pumpkin cream pie covered the gym floor. The contestants eagerly and energetically dove their faces into a mass of cream and indulged as much as their stomachs could hold. Minutes later a pie eater submerged from the remains of a tasty pie and gasped for air. We had a winner!! For the ninth year, Alisal High was threatened loopsl treated to the annual pie eating contest, sponsored by the L.S.E.P.F. Club. Janice Haydon's hard efforts brought her a first during fifth. while Rex Samples, who wasn't too far behind came in second. The sixth period winner was Pete Pura. Coming in with a strong second was our very own foreign exchange student, Jean Luc Bodson! Turkeys were awarded to the pie eaters for their magnificent performances. As consolation prizes, smaller turkeys and turkey pie dinners were given. l I canft believe l ate 204 Activities

Lucfl ins American An Exchange With Belgium During the year 1973-1974, Belgium is the guest of Alisal High School. My name, Jean Luc Bodson, has been found so difficult that I am called Lucky John or Freebee . When I left Europe. I was living in an apartment quite little but comfortable. I have one brother, younger, Pierre, who is also going to high school. Angleur, where I live, is a beautiful suburb of a large city called Liege in the southern and French part of Belgium. If I had to describe my area, I would be very romantic. The wind blowing in the woods. the snow in winter. the yellow flowers in summer. and the red polluted sky. Sometimes these things have put some color and sound in a life which was boring Isleep, bus. schooll. My school in Europe has been very hard. I took Scientifique A which meant a schedule of 14 classes every week with 1 1 hours of mathematics a week. I have always appreciated Pink Floyd, Bach, movies, and politics. Perhaps one has to find in that passion my love of traveling and of meeting new people. I have fortunately found in AFS a friend who was thinking the same thing and as a result I have had the lucky opportunity of knowing all of you at Alisal. As a message, I would give you this idea: never stop anywhere but continue on your way, fighting for a better understanding between people. Be ready to give your time.
