To understand this world and to prepare for the future we must first know the past. The history classes at Al- hambra teach us about past ways of lite so that we may compare them with our own. Current problems which our so- ciety is plagued with are also discussed in American problems classes.

Qiwwv aadfQpecialb ln front of Buffalo Bill, one of the boys' dorms. Comp Sierra is a place for meeting people, and Kathy Heitkam got to be good friends with Charlotte. Camp Sierra for mentally handicapped children is a non-profit organization incorporated under the laws of the State of California. Last year we were honored with the Governors Award as the outstanding community volunteer service group in the State of California for 1965. During the 8 years that Camp Sierra has been in operation, the growth of the program has been amazing. During that time, we have outgrown five rented campsites. We are now looking for property on which we may build our own permanent campsite. When we have accomplished this we plan to share it on a year-round basis with other groups who are serving handicapped children. There is a great ioy and satisfaction in serving others through Camp Sierra. lt seems to be highly contagious. As the Camp Di- rector, I find that the enthusiasm and loyalty of the young persons who serve on our staff, returning year after year, represents volunteer service at its best. Many of these young persons come from Alhambra High School. lf you are sixteen years of age or older and would like a rare and unusual experience in serving others, why don't you apply next summer? Just drop in to Room A-4 anytime, and l'll be glad to accommodate you! . . . M. Wilson Special Education is on important part of any school. Mrs. Wilson has done o great iob of working with students who need extra help and of preparing them for life after their schooling.
