Rashomon provides view of orient culture The play Rashomon was put on by the Performing Arts Department. It was based on stories by Ryunosuke Aku- tagawa. The action took place in the 10th century in Japan. Rashomon was a fable about three travelers who meet at the Ancient Ra- shomon Gate, the entrance to the capi- ' . ,..-fbi . ......L....,, A - is tal city of Kyoto. They discussed a trial that had taken place the previous day. The hearing was about a violent murder and a rape. Throughout the play, there were flashbacks to the crime. The main character of this comedy was a town bum named Sneaky Fitch, played by Richard McDowell. ln the course of the play, he is considered dead by the townspeople and they are very glad to have this man removed from their presence. Their happiness does not last very long. Sneaky Fitch returns to life during his funeral. Advanced Drama Class turns to comedy Feiffer's People was a play put on by the Advanced Drama Class. The cast included M. Allen, M. Baez, R. Barney, C. Bodah, M. Christian, G. Gibson, and L. Henrickson. Feiffer's People was a series of comic strips written by Jules Feiffer and put together by the director, Mr. Fred Snow. Jules Feiffer wrote his comic strips in 1969, but the play was updated to the present year's lifestyles.
