Out of the shadows of backstage and the pits of W25 there could be heard echoing through the chill morning air the age-old cry of des- perate annual staff members, l'What are we going to use as a theme? Outer space, Moortropolis, circuses, and the Gay Nineties had been dust- ed off and suggested once more, but ingenious staffers searched on and on. Accompanying his newly found cousin to school one morning, Ioe passed W25 on his way to class. These anguished groans reached his ears. Suddenly the thought flashed across his mind. Why not use the idea of Boabdil's being at Alhambra High? Quickly opening the door, he was invited to leave, however, he insisted on being heard. Heres your theme! insisted loe. l'This is my cousin from Spain. He is Boabdil Alfredo lose Guadalupe Moor de Villanueve, a sort of living heritage of the Moors of Granada, the location of the real Alhambra. He's not just a visitor, he's going to school here through that exchange program, People for Peace, a per- sonalized internationalism which should give people a better under- standing of one another. Thus Boabdil became the answer to our immediate problem, and it is our fervent hope that other Boabdils and other students from the world over may become the answer to the age-old problem of mankind-How can we learn to live together in one world?
