These are the things I like about her. She works with us without thinking of herself or the time she spends. Realizing what we have to do in other classes, she sometimes rearranges her schedule for the sake of her students . . . No, she doesn't let down on standards either. Freedom of thought is important to her. She makes each student give his own interpretation be- fore she finally gives her own. When all the introductions were over Bo and the counselors got to work Bo was soon to find out that our counselors ploy a very important part in the life and educa- tion of the students lt is their Job to help a student in his choice of subtects They give aptitude tests which show the fields in which you have the most natural ability, and subyects can then be planned accord- ingly The counselors keep records of all the students and see that each person is meeting his reauirements One of their out- standing duties is to estimate the size and numbers of classes which are needed every semesterg and with over two thousand stu- dents to account for, it is amazing how they plan the classes with the accuracy that they do. Certainly the ease with which the school operates is, in part, due to the counselors' office. After a lot of thought, Bo and his coun- selor came up with a program. Bo was to study chemistry, English, gym, co-ed cook- ing, and geometryl And boy-the things Bo did in the chem class . . . The Cluld Wei are Uffice aAAiA tA you. Hi loe called Boabdil lm going Job hunting todayl What must l do before l can work? lm not sure loe answered Lets go to the Child Welfare Office and find out There Bo met Mr Stover the supervisor and Mrs Reece the director He also met Mrs Sham pine and Mrs Fairbairn the sec retaries While visiting the office he learned of many of its duties He learned that it acted as a go between a liaison agent be tween the school home and so cial agencies Upon leaving the office Bo came to the conclusion that he had found a place to bring any problems for under standing and help Everyone needs such a place at least once in a while 1' 1 1 1 i . .H . Bo Wasnft too sure about the P-TA and asked joe tor the usual explanation. joe told him that the P-TA was the Parent-Teachers Association, that parents and the school faculty Worked hand in hand on projects concerning the community as Well as the school. This years president is Mrs, Hauger, and she and all the otticers ot the organization work constantly to better the understanding be- tween parents and taculty. He also told Bo about the P-TA Thritt Shop. It is run by the P-TA and most ot the things there are do- nated by people ot the community. When Bo got to the Thritt Shop he was amazed at the number ot costumes availe able tor rental. There were costumes ot all periods and also ot several ditternt coun- tries With the help ot the P-TA Women Working there the committee was able to iind just what they were looking tor. They arranged tor the rental ot the costumes,- and when they lett, they were all aware ot time well spent in search ot just the right costumes for the senior play, , 4 The P-TA Thritt Shop is ct limitless treasure of interesting costumes.
