This is my chance to thank all of you for filling my first cruise
in Alfred with satisfaction of belonging to an unbeatable team.
You have always been willing to do more than was asked-work-
ing many extra hours to maintain the high degree of readiness
required of seventh fleet destroyers. You were always ready to
go-Plane Guard, General Quarters, Refueling, Sea Detail, Under-
way at 0500, Launch The Boat, Load Stores, or well-earned liberty.
Your magnificent behavior ashore in foreign ports is an achievment
of which you can be iustly proud. My best wishes for smooth
seas throughout your lifelong cruise.
