Started three years ago, the Junior High Cross Country team has been very popular, with about a dozen and a half boys out this year. The team, traveling to Portville for their only meet, handed the Portville Junior High a 16-42 defeat (one point from perfect) with Gary Kellogg out in front. Mr. Moore started the team for the purpose of testing our Junior Highers' interest and ability in the sport and also to give them a chance to experience the competition they will encounter on the varsity squad. The Cross Country team saw another successful year with the best team to date at A-A. They placed second in our invitational which has grown to be the second largest Cross Country event in Western New York. Another bright spot of the season occurred when Karl Barron set a new school record for the 2.2 mile course, in a time of 10:37.5. As a result of the coaching advice and incentive of Mr. Moore and team desire, our team returned home from Alfred with the Section 5 trophy after a romping victory through a field of twenty schools, leaving the First Row: D. Coleman, L. Kellogg, K. Borron, T. Rowe, G. Smith, W. Martin. Standing: J. Buckmoster, D. Whitford, R. Rawleigh, D. Frechette, T. Montgomery, T. Nisbet, R. VanHorn, J. Crandall, Mr. Moore.

For the third time in four years of coaching at Alfred-Almond, Mr. McEvoy brought our soccer team to the title of County Champs. This year they defeated Fillmore in a close deciding game and the victorious team carried their coach to the showers. They went on in sectional competition by defeating Holly in a double overtime, decided by a technical goal. After beating Holly, they continued in competition and were eliminated in the semi-finals by Hammondsport. Much credit goes to Mr. McEvoy for his excellent coaching.
