I V GAA The lassxes of the broad countrmes belonged to the G A A , an organlzatlon meaning Glrls Athletxc Assoclatlon It belonged to the state organlzatxon whlch stood for stnnulatmg mterest and partlclpatxon m glrls athletics The state regu lated a pomt system by whlch g1r1s could follow and achleve rewards m the form of numerals, letters capxtal I or a map of Ilhnols Playdays tournaments, and sectlonal meetxngs tended to broaden the state program We held our meetmgs once a month and dxscussed both busmess and soclal affarrs OFFICERS Presxdent Ruby Anderson Vlce Presldent Lorraine Gustafson Secretary Barbara Swanson Treasurer Carol Txmberlake Carnlval Royalty Wxth these wreaths of vlctory I crown you Don Gordon and Carol Timber lake, Kmg and Queen of the 52 carnival were the words spoken by Troy Dlllbeck and Sally McFarland at 11 30 on the evenmg of March 1 for thrs was one of the greatest occasnons of the year The Court of Honor mcluded Barons Dlck Lafferty and V1rg1n1a Armstrong Vassals Daryl Johnson and Pat Moore Peasants Mary Axcell and B111 Lafferty From 7 to 12 approxrmately 350 people wandered through the showers of confettl buylng trxnkets of all kmds trying thelr luck at each stand and d8Il'lOllShlIl,g all the dellcacnes of the food stand The concession stand rlng toss telegram stand basketball throw and darts were the entertalnments on the lower halls of the castle wh le boxmg home talent and musuc shows were pre sented m the upper hall Through the help and co operatlon of town merchants and fellow students the carmval was a complete success Honor Roll Club For those students whose grades have mamtamed an average of.
