Q- N V THE BAND As you walked mto the Alexis Castle durxng fxfth watch thus last year you may have wondered where all the musxc resoundmg through the halls was commg from If you mqulred mto thus, you duscovered that vt was tl e Alexa-s lhgn School Band practlcxng for Its many actlvxtles of the your If it were at the begmnlng of the school year when you entered the bull-dmg you may have heard the group playmg some of the songs whxch they rendered thenr concerts at the Alexxs Fall Festlval Or maybe you attended the fall concert the Chrlstmas concert, or the sprmg concert where the band under the able dlrectlon of Mr Murphey created three thoroughly emoyable evemngs for the audlence The band also partxcnpated nn the B1 County band concert along with flve other schools One of the sad happenings thls year was Mr Murpheys leavmg Though we were all sorry to see hum go, we wlsh hum much success m the future After this artlcle IS publlshed, the band under the guldance and efflcxent leadershlp of Musa Folkedahl IS plannmg to compete ln the dlstrxct muslc contest at Rock Island The members are also lookmg forward to the music festrval at Know College We consxder that thls year has been both enjoyable and successful for the band The Senlors wxsh to say Good Luck to the future bands at A C H.. Mr Murphey certamly had the band steppmg when he took the Crusaders out to march last fall Thexr first experience at marchlng was a't the blg Fall Festival where they led the Homecommg parade Smxles appeared on the spectators faces when the band members played the school song as they rode on the Merry Go Round Later ln the year, Mr Murphey and the band went to Macomb to march m the Western Homecommg Parade As a novelty everyone ln the band pamted hls shoes brlght red but, alas when the Crusaders came home, the red had turned to black from the ram and the mud An mterestmlg half tlme show was presented by the band at the football games Mr Murphey IS to be comphmented on the many and origmal programs whlch he taught to the marchmg band -42 gm Q. .
