"Af f 'X English This year the English de partment introduced an approach to language arts suggested by the National Council of Teachers of English The program is now on a full year basis except the twelfth grade elective courses which are semester classes The courses are designed to develop the basic communications skills of reading speaking listening and writing Other responsibilities of the English department are the Spectrum the Tiger s Tale Dramatrcs and the library Teachers in the Junior High English department are Miss McCammon and Mr. Hulce. Teachers in the Senior High English department are Mr. Brown, Mrs. Hiatt, Miss Frazier, and Mrs. Loy. 'I R This class 1S English V taught by Mr Brown This is the English I class taught by Mr. Hulce. Xl 1' Ii xl '14 The Choral Instructor, Mr. Gilbert NE li ll VSYDP -ner. m Bridwell directed the choir in several community programs. They also partici- pated in the State and County choral festivals. The band under the direction of Mr, Bowers, performed at the football and basket ball games. They participated in the Solo and Emsemble contest. Mr. Bowers is shown holding the new trombone purchased by the music department this year. The band and choir together gave three concerts and the Christmas program.
