SOCRATIC CLUB The Socratic Club, the Alexandria branch of the Future Teachers was organized in 1950. Many purposes are set forth for theFTA. Among them are: to learn about the opportunities of teaching, to cultivate good qualities essential in a good teacher, to speed development of student leadership, and to do actual teaching. NATIONAL THESPIANS SOCIETY The main purpose for the establishment of the National Thespian Society was to promote interest and appreciation in Dramatic Arts among high school students. Thespians take an active part in the class play, one act play, and declamation. The Thespians Society is under the leadership of Darrel Steen, president; Barbara Watters, vice president; Adrian Anderson, secretary; Mary Alice Johnson, treasurer; and Agnes Johnson, scribe. We meet once a month and special meetings are called by the president. Some of our activities are sending a gift chest overseas, assisting the Senior Red Cross Drive, helping with the Blood Bank, and informing the community of Red Cross activities. ALHI TIMES The goal of the Alhi Times is to keep the students well informed about the present items of news, to give an interesting variety of features and to give an accurate sports account. The Alhi Times is published every three weeks. The Alhi Times is a member of the National Scholastic Press Associa- tion. Each year the new editors of the Alhi Times are sent to the Minne- sota.
