Shirley Tate, Secretary-treasurer; Donovan Johnson, President; Gary Susag, Vice-president. SENIORS Seniors! Yes, we’re bona fide seniors, complete with caps and gowns. Nostalgia al- ready creeps in as we think about our short years of high school and try to erase the thought of never again entering Alex High's halls as students. The tassels on our mortar-boards tickle our necks as we march. We remember our freshman year so clearly. We looked at the upper cl assmen with admiring eyes, attended games faithfully, moaned about our tests in health class, and took our places as leaders of the junior high. Our carnival, spring party, and our news- paper, the Variety, stand out in our memories. As sophomores we proudly attended senior high auditoriums and dances without needing a special invitation. We busily joined clubs, hung around the Youth Center, and struggled with Julius Caesar. We successfully sponsored a snow-theme Christmas dance. In our junior year, we conscientiously learned our lists of Presidents, and became much more active in sports, dramatics, and various clubs. We were very proud of our class play, “Arsenic and Old Lace , on which we had spent many long hours. Spring came, and we started planning our Junior-Senior Prom and Party, with “Spring Party” as the theme. We dressed in our fluffy formals and new suits, and the big night was over all too soon. Our senior year started early, with class pictures taken before school opened. Our class rings arrived, and we began work on this Alexian. We were all very busy with Homecoming, the Alhi Times, Christmas concerts, and then our class play. Music festivals and exchanging pictures brought us closer to the rapid whirl of spring activ- ities. We were the juniors’ guests at the prom, then came the Senior Banquet, Honor Day, and Baccalaureate. Our gowns are warm, our throats are dry, but our eyes are not. “Pomp and Circumstance” is being played and we eye the pile of diplomas on the stage. These bits of paper announce our commencement! 12
