SENIOR CLASS PRESIDENT, GEORGE TORHEY George has retained the office of class president for 3 consecutive years. He was elected as governor of Gopher Boy’s State for the year 1950. In the summer of 1950, he was sent as one of the dele- gates representing Minnesota to Boy’s Nation in Washington, D. C. where he was appointed Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS - Vice President, RONALD JOHNSON; Secretary- Treasurer, DELORIS MENZEL. Seetiav Under the efficient direction of Mr. Theo- dore Ording, the 1951 seniors started their last year of high school by electing officers They were president, George Torrey, vice president, Ronald Johnson; secretary-treas- urer, Delores Menzel. The first major job undertaken was the production of the senior class play, “Our Hearts Were Young and Gay,” under the direc- tion of Mrs. Dorothy Schwanke. This year marked the introduction of something new when Mrs. Schwanke chose two different casts for each nights performance. The coming of spring brought measuring for caps and gowns, exchanging of senior pictures and calling cards. The year was swiftly brought to a close with Honor Day, Baccalaureate, and on June 1, Commencement Day, 140 seniors bade Alex High a fond fare- well. 15
