A. D. BAILEY, JR. If

Early one September morning, sixty-three freshmen began a new school era
when they ambled down the hallowed halls of Alexander Wilson School to begin
four long years then, but actually now,'very short ones, which will be treasured
by all of us.
Under the leadership of Mrs. S. C. Burke and Mr. Thomas Williams, our year
began very pleasantly. Our class officers were, presidents, Douglas Carver and
Charles Lane, vice-presidents, Carolyn Glosson and William Rice, secretaries, Linda
Thompson and Rae Vone Gumm, treasurers, Jim Covington and Mickey Wheeley.
Since we had had one year of high school training, we were better prepared to
face the sophomore year. Then our coming into a beautiful high school building
with its modern facilities gave us a new outlook on our educational adventure.
Ronald Scott and William Rice were our presidents, Douglas Carver and Otis
Bailey, vice-presidents, Faye Brewer and Joyce Edwards, secretaries, Linda Thomp-
son and Carol Walton, treasurers. Under the guidance of Mrs. G. B. Robbins and
Mrs. Robert L. Lloyd another profitable year came to an end.
When our junior year began, it was to be a very busy one, and full of happy
moments and memories that will never be forgotten. The climaxes of the year
were getting our class rings, giving the junior-senior banquet, the theme of which
was Starlight and Roses, and participating in athletics and other school activities.
Our advisors were Mrs. G. B. Robbins and Mrs. Marvin Terrell. The class officers
were, presidents, Otis Bailey and Douglas Carver, vice-presidents, Rae Vone Gumm
and Ann Sawyer, secretaries, Dovie Jean Dunlap and Sylvia Jones, treasurers, Faye
Brewer and Kay Brewer.
A wonderful summer ended, and once again it was time for us to continue
our search for knowledge as the school doors were opened wide and teachers
greeted us. This new year found forty-six seniors united firmly under the leading
hand of Mrs, G. H. Enfield. New experiences and numerous responsibilities
awaited us. The class officers were, president, Charles Covington, vice-president,
Carolyn Glosson, secretary, Patsy Sharpe, treasurer, Mickey Wheeley.
Under the leadership of Coach Lewis Robertson, our football team's record was
one of the best in the history of the school, fact of the matter, our athletic pro-
gram, as a whole was one to be proud of, and the students, participating learned
many lessons that will be of future value to them.
Another activity, which has taken much time, is the editing of our school annual,
THE WILSONIAN. The staff, composed of seniors and iuniors worked diligently to
prepare a good one.
In November the seniors elected their mascots, Becky Lane and Jack Bailey of
whom we are very proud.
Several social events, one of which was the prom given by the iuniors, afforded
us much pleasure.
As our high school life at Alexandria Wilson School ends, we shall never forget
the happy experiences that we have enioyecl, the friendship formed, and the
wonderful lessons we have learned.
