CC TAKES CHAMPIONSHIPS The cross-country team in keeping up with the old tradition, again showed top performance throughout the sea- son. The season began with a dedicated and enthusiastic group of runners who combined hard work and long hours of training to produce an excellent team. Their accomplishments were not only winning the girls all Ger- many championships but also placing six runners in the European finals in Wuerzburg. During the season Patch won all of their regular meets and hosted the silver south Regionals beating out six other teams to take the title. The top four runners on the girls team proved to be quite a sensation. The quartet, consisting of newcomer Carol Czyz, Jean McCarthy, Karen Ricketson and Ann Field, were commonly known as the waIl because they remained undefeated in the regular season. The guys team led by junior David Caceras placed sixth overall in Germany finals. Caseras, Roger Miller and the quartet of girls all made it to the European finals, and all came in the top ten.
