The Espirit Tells It Like It Is What exactly is the position of edi- tor on a newspaper? Some people claim the job demands respect from the plebeian folk below. Respect like: So you're the jerk who's editor, big deal. I think there should be more gos- sip in every issue, sports on the front page, and etc. Respect from the staff: Oh, it's only you Chiefy, I need the pass. Ah, sorry I forgot to tell you but, I can't make the concert tonight, I made a date instead. And my article will be in a little late. Ifll see you later, ... and thanks for the pass. Being editor gives a certain thrill of pleasure, a warm feeling of accomplishment deep down inside from comments like: Itfs a shame this article took four hours of re- search, but it will have to be scratched. Or, Please rewrite this editorial, it's biased, it's impossible for the editor to be biased. Yet again, This newspaper received a last place rating in the elementary division con- test among Milwaukee Schools Who really wants to be an editor anyway, the job that carries too much responsibility, a lot of excedrin head- aches, and all the blame for someone elses mistakes?
