CLASS OF 1945 i OREZ VEAZEY LEWIS WALKER ROBERT WHITE RALPH WILLIAMSON Not Pictured: Reuben Blankenship, A. J, Catchings, Gailya Mae Forbus, Clariston Oliver, Hilda Pasley. THE CLASS HISTORY OF 1945 By FRANCES HARRIS In September, 1933, there assembled on the hill c‘ A. C. H. S. a company of small boys and girls who have proved to be a part of what is now the Senior Class of 1945. We were timid and innocent little children just at the foot of the ladder of learning. Our first three years of school were spent in reading, writing and arithmetic. It was in the year 1936 that we really began to study. We were in the fourth grade and the next three years were occupied with English, arithmetic, geography, spelling and history. It was surprising how these years passed. Finally, May 26, 1939 marked our graduation from the Alexander City Grammar School. In September, 1939, we began our career as high school students. These years were somewhat harder than those we had been accustomed to, but we had many wise teachers. Under their leader- ship, we pushed through our first year of high school. In 1942 we entered the Senior High School with Miss Chapman and Mrs. Heacock as our advisory teachers. Here we were joined by pupils of the other schools of Alexander City. We were well repre- sented in all the school activities that year and took our place the next year as proud juniors. We remember hew hard we worked and the dance we gave the Senior Class. Our theme was Paper Doll, and the Orchestra was led by Bill Nappi. With Mrs. J. C. Askew as our teacher, we entered our last year of high school. We were all excited and thrilled over being Seniors, a position we hod worked hard for and looked forward to all through our high school years. We elected our class officers and our committees. Year by year as we have climbed upward on the ladder of learning the horizon of our world has been broadened, our view of life with its possibilities has expanded, until now we can realize how infinitely small is our store of knowledge as compared to the many things yet unlearned.
