STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council is an organization of students which represents the entire student body. One of the duties of the group is to raise money to be used to buy needed items for the school. The twelve member group is made up of three students from each grade who are elected by their class. The year began somewhat shaky. Mr. Rooney stepped in as the new supervisor of the group and things began to shape-up. Meetings began in early November and fl fl H 'i -55.1 ,WJ X. were held every other Tuesday during fifth period. Of- ficers were elected at the first meeting and then the group began work. The council bulletin which shows various group activities and notices was set up. The council also worked in the concession stand at many basketball games in order to raise money to buy a new trophy case for the school. ational Honor Society The National Honor Society is an organization for those who maintain high academic standards. Students are selected for membership by approval of administra- tion and faculty in areas of citizenship, service, leader- ship, and character and must have a grade point average of 88 or above. In February the members went to the Omni Theater and to eat pizza at Mama's Pizza. Q Xxx ............,...... f, fl The teachers aide program has been in existence for several years and has proven to be very effective both for the teachers and the students involved. However, with the educational reforms brought about by House Bill 76 the program is being curtail- ed and is in danger of being eliminated. In order to be a teacher's aide, the student must be approved by both the teacher with whom he or she will be work- ing and Mr. Scott, who is in charge of the program. Also the student must be a junior or senior and must be passing his or her academic classes. Students receive one-half credit for one full year of aiding. Right . . . Wrong . . . Right . . .
