If you were an athlete, in the marching hand or on the drill team, you announced this to the school with locker signs Qwhich included your title, position or in- strumentj made by the cheerleaders. Cheerleaders prepared for their jobs with a week at SMU's cheerleading camp in August. There, the varsity won two superior, three excellent and one good ribbon, the junior varsity won one superior, three excellent and two good ribbons. Before school started, they practiced two weeks, during school, practice time averaged at least three hours per day. The groups raised money for pep rallies, spirit signs and anything else needed to keep spirit up by selling ads for the high school football programs. They then sold the programs at the varsity games. Mrs. Paula Dudek, sponsor, said the cheerleaders plan a cheerleading clinic for grades one through eight in February 1985.
