Dragons On Cinder Hill
The cindermen of Aledo high started the track season of '57 with a triangular with Monmouth and
Abingdon. Monmouth placed first and Aledo placed second. The next meet was a dual one with Joy.
The Aledo trackmen out-pointed Joy easily. The track team then traveled to the Davenport Relays,
where they received sixth place. The next meet was a triangular with Roseville and Abingdon, this
meet was won easily by Aledo. The Aledo team tied with Abingdon for fourth place at th Galva relays.
A triangular with Geneseo and Orion came next on the schedule.
At this writing there are two meets remaining in the season. One will be the Little Six Relays, which
Aledo hopes to win. If the Aledo track team can bring home first place honors, it will be the first year
Aledo has won a triple crown, football, basketball and track. There will also be the district track meet
at Rock Island. Only six members of the track team-selected by the coach--will participate in this
meet: Jon Davison will throw the disc, Gary Johnson will compete in the mile rung and a mile relay
team will be entered. This meet will be the last of the 1957 season.

Memory
Lane
Co chairmen of the 1956 Junior senior prom were M rjorie Roth and Joe Sims
The theme chosen by the Junior class was Down Memory Lane The gymnasium was transform
ed into a park scene set off by a mural at the far corner picturing a boy and girl strolling down
memory lane Green and white crepe paper streamers gate the scene an outdoor look Old fashion
ed street lamps formed a lane along the tables which accommodated the dancers
Music for the dance was provided by The Five Sharps a band composed of local musicians and
their vocalist Miss Nancy Albertson
Punch and cookies were served during the dance in the cafeteria
After the prom the P. T. A. sponsored a post prom party at the Oak View Country Club Dancing
and games and refreshments were the highlights from 10:00 midnight till 2:00 in the morning when
the couples departed for their own homes or private parties and breakfasts.
