"Hone, dh. jim,
Facing noble competition in the Little Six last year, the Dragon squad won first in only
two events, but smashed conference records in both of them. Jim Dellitt ran the fastest 220 in Lit-
tle Six history as he halted the stop watches at 23.4. The Dragons added another new record to
the conference books when their freshman-sophomore relay team of two pairs of brothers, Larry
and Jerry Greer and Bob and Ray Stoner, blazed a new 440 relay mark of 48.4.
The Aledo trackmen finished fourth in a three-way photo finish for runner-up honors. A
mere two points kept the Dragons out of second place as they racked up 69164 points to finish be-
hind ROVA's 71 and Abingdon's 7lV2. Knoxville's Blue Bullets won with 87 points.
Headed mainly by freshmen, sophomores, and juniors, last year's track teams looked for-
ward to a better year in '56, Co-captains for '55 were Jim Dellitt and Jim Calhoun.
All Aledo speedsters and weight men are looking forward to the Little Six this time with
enthusiasm. Outdoing Abingdon in a three-way meet with Monmouth, Abingdon and Aledo, the
outcome gave Talkin's thinclads a Little Six edge. Promising stars for ,56 are Jim Dellitt in the
100-yard dash and 220, Larry and Jerry Greer in a variety of spots, Jack Cavanah in the discus
and high hurdles, Jon Davison in the pole vault, Gary Johnson in the mile, Jim Yerkey and Duane
Johnson as relayers and low hurdlers, Leo Weeks and Guy Welch in the 440, and Harold Morrison
and Dave Walker in the shotput.
