SZ-fn! 5416?
Homecoming festivities at Alden Consolidated School began early Thurs
day evening October ll with the students participating in the annual snake
dance The band led the procession to the town square where the checrlead
ers took over to lead the crowd in a rousing pep rally The queen candidates
were introduced and a dummy representing Conrad was burned
The next day Ieriday school was dismissed for the whole day so floats
could be decorated and final preparations completed in time before the eve
rung parade The parade featured the band queen candidates grade and high
school floats and a visiting band from Popejoy.
Homecoming festivities were high lighted during the half-time ceremony
Following the band s splendid performance co-captains Bill Dickenson and
Merle Heinzeroth crowned Barbara Zoske senior Homecoming Queen of 1956.
The junior float, Sewing up a Victory,' won first prize over the other three
competing floats.
Although the football game was very thrilling, the Alden Redskins were
defeated. 14-7, by the Conrad squad.
After the game, students danced to the music of Allen Welsh and his
orchestra.
