They were none other than Donna Branyord, Martha Bennett, Eugene Brenneman. I. .' u f e u -e. x x . af OMORES """ I x Q! is 5' k gy , F Front Row D Bruch, M Bahr, Y LaVelle, V Sw1ft, L Lettow, J Sharar, M Terveer, M Doss Middle How D Bennett, D Douglas R Weyrauch, B Flemlng 8C Row H Cook, D Behn M Ingebritson M clark B Eide Mr R Goos, J Bruns, C fowery, V Hoversten, D Kromminga,, D Groenhoff SOPHOMOYE HIGHLITVo At the beginnlng of the 1952 53 school year, the Sophomore class boasted the largest membershlp 1n high school w1th a total of twenty nine members However, we were very unfortunate ln that we lost Marylyn Bahr and Harold Fenton whlch reduces our class to twenty seven On September lOth, the Alden Hlgh School was a strange look1ng sight because the Freshmen, who were belng lnitiated by us Soph omores, wore some very unusual costumes In the even1ng a party was given for the Freshmen, and before the evenlng was over they were initiated The Freshmen and Sophomores had a JO1Ht bake sale on September 20 to ralse funds for the treasury of both the classes The sale was very successful and the money was dlvided between the two classes Homecom1ng was very early this year, on September 26, which helps to explaln the very fine weather we had The queen, Roberta Neyrauch, was crowned the night before, at the snake dance, and homecoming day was spent working on the floats The Sophomore float had the theme of a wishing well, and was decorated with flowers entwlned 1U a trellls and a fence Although we did not win a prize, we were rewarded w1th all the fun we had doing it In the evenlng, for our homecoming foot ball game, we played State Center, and lost, 19 O After the game, a dance was held 1n the gym On November lL, the Sophomores took lt upon themselves to break the monotony of the school year, by SPOUSOFIDF a dance 1n the gym Bales of straw were placed around the gym to sit on, and corn stalks were placed intermittently around the floor We danced to records which were suppl1ed by some classmates Each year a Christmas program 13 g1ven 1D the assembly, and th1s year each class was to give a sk1t We gave two short sk1ts wh1ch both turned out very well This past year we have been well represented 1n all activit1es We can honestly say that this has been a truly full and wonderful year for us IH kill" alll' ,x - -I 4 . s Y lf" ' J I 2. iarson, F.
