Starting out the year by playing pep band music at games and pep rallies, the band also worked on some serious playing, The concert band performed at three con- certs throughout the year. They attended the region music contest at which three groups brought home l-ratings. They marched at Homecoming and also at the USD parade. The group made appearances at the Veteran's Day and Memorial Day programs and at Graduation. The jazz band performed well at both concerts and con- tests. Robert Kezar The Alcester High School chorus had a very busy year preparing for their concerts, the regional music contest, and the musical, Bye, Bye Birdie. Mrs. Connie Larsen, along with Karen Ites, a student teacher from USD, helped twelve soloists and six vocal groups prepare for the contest held at USD. Several groups brought home superior ratings, along with the Swing Choir which performed a medley called Surfin' USA. Many of the chorus members were also involved in the musical Bye, Bye Birdie which was put on in April. - ♦ 1987-88 was a very productive and fun-filled year for the chorus members and much was accom- plished.
