Hendricks Pep Club Adds Spirit You often only think of athletes when sports are mentioned, but behind every athlete is a cheering crowd. The cheerleaders worked hard to keep the Alces- ter crowd backing the Cubs with enthusiasm. In spite of their effort, the cheerleaders couldn’t have done it without the support of the Pep Club. Banks The Broadway musical, “Oklahoma , was per- formed at the Alcester High School gym on April 22 and 24, with a matinee for grades K-8 on the afternoon of April 22. There was a capacity crowd both nights, as the performers had sold advance tickets. Through hard work and guidance from directors Mrs. Connie Larsen and Mrs. Mary Horst, the musical was successful. Some of the main characters were: Joan Hendricks as Laurie Williams, James Newberg as Curly McClain, Matt Onnen as Will Parker, Robin Embrock as Ado Annie Carnes, Wayne Johnson as Ali Hakim, Jon Leafstedt as Jud Fry, and Rochelle Twedt as Aunt Eller. The story revolved around the life and loves of people from the Oklahoma territory at the turn of the century. This was the First big name musical put on by the Alcester schools, and it was well received by all who attended.
