Leisa Johnson (soprano), Patti Hammitt (alto) Singers Set New Records This year Alcester had the largest mixed chorus ever with more than sixty singers. They were kept busy singing in four concerts. Three ensembles, one duet, and 12 soloists attended the vocal con- test in Vermillion with 7 receiving superior rat- ings. The soloists receiving superiors were Jon Leafstedt, James Newberg, Matt Onnen, Nancy Hergdale, and Melanie Running. The swing choir also performed this year with its twenty-six members. They received a superior rating at the contest in Vermillion and also par- ticipated in the Coyote Jazz Festival. In addition to the four concerts, the “Mood Lighters” held their own swing choir-stage band concert.
