The individuals and groups that performed worked very hard to achieve these accomplishments. Besides earning money, the band kept busy marching in the SDSU, USD and Alcester homecomings. The majority of the band students also participated in the Instrumental Contest held in Vermillion. Soloists Joanne Lind, Karen Swanson, and LeAnne Lingert received Su- perior ratings along with the percussion and saxo- phone ensembles. In the fall Diane Ludwig, Lisa Kleinhans, and Matt Onnen attended the Augus- tana Band Festival. LeAnn Lingert was chosen as one of 104 students in the U.S. to participate in the McDonald’s All-American Band. She went to New York in November and played in a concert in Carnegie Hall and marched in the Macy’s Thanks- giving Day Parade. LeAnne was also chosen to participate in All-State Band held at Sioux Falls in March. The stage band was kept busy this year by performing at the Fine Arts Banquet and at a stage band-swing choir concert. Above (Stage Band Row 1: T. Sonichsen, R. Twedt, S. Hartman. J. Newberg.
