Spirit Js Five seniors, four juniors, and two freshmen made up this year's cheerleading squad. The main goal of being a cheerlead- er is to get and keep the enthusiasm of the crowd. This year's school spirit greatly improved since last year and helped in supporting our various teams. The cheerleaders once again sold mums at Homecoming to raise money for their uniforms. Extra Activities Assisting students in locating and checking in and out books was the main job of our student librarians. Under the supervision of Mrs. Sherry Goldammer, the librarians were also in charge of dusting and keeping the library in order. Points were kept for each librarian, those earning 2000 points received a pin. Twelve students took part in the Local Declam contest this year. All those who participated worked very hard. Local winners were: Oratory-Heather Luck; Poetry-Dianna Zingler; Dramatic-Ruth Hultgren; and Humorous-Rachelle Mer- rick. These four students attended the district contest where they all did very well. The National Honor Society, in its third year of existence started out with two returning seniors, Jahn Hultgren and Sue Bergdale. They were joined by six juniors: Karen Hakl, Laura Hendricks, Gene Johnson, Brad Kleinhans, Myrth Ludwig, and Rhonda Thompson. Another senior, Nancy Kraakmo joined at semes- ter and Susie Peterson, Brenda Crawford, and Lori Roskeland joined the fourth 9 weeks. The purpose of this organization is to honor these students that have maintained a minimum grade point average of 3.00 (B) during their high school career. 15
