Because of a surprlse baseball tournament schedule our class of 1952 had to leave early for the Ozarks on our class trlp Exactly twelve hours ahead of schedule on May 7 M' Bohr Howard Drcken Darwm Paul and Bob Berry each with a car full of seniors departed from the schoolhouse All day Wednesday was spent ln drnvmg Late that afternoon we arrnved an llannxbal MIBSOIIII and regxstered at the Maryland Hotel After refreshlng ourselves we ate a late dinner ID the hotel drmng room and later went out In separate groups to see what we could of the cxty We enjoyed many xnterestlug srghts On 'lhursday mornlng we left for St Louis where a group went to the baseball game between the New York Grants and the St Louxs Cardmals Another group enjoyed a tour of the large zoo Both groups then met and went to the amusement park for some real excntement and thnlls Leavmg the park we journeyed north to Columbia Mlssourl where we spent our second night after a long-distance phone call to Albur- nett, we learned that the baseball game was stnll scheduled for Fnday sowe had to cancel our plans to see the Ozarks and speed home About 1 00 P M on Friday May 9 there arrived ln Alburnett a group of srxteen weary A H S seniors accompanied by their chaperones 'ti' and M's Bohr BACCALAUBEATE AND GBAllUATION Sunday May 4 1952 seventeen happy seniors marched to the front of the school audltorlum to recelve therr baccalaureate address The Reverend Kerney presented the sermon entntled Marchlng Orders Wrth a Promise Various hrgh school groups rendered vocal and band YDUSIC Four days later May 15 seventeen even happier seniors marched agaln to the stage and to their ultl mate hlgh school goal Clad rn caps and gowns of blue and white therr class colors with red roses on their lapels and therr class motto Out of School Lrfe Into Life s School m the background, they no longer appeared to be our former classmates Mr Ronald Fleming provrded the musrc for the prelude and processxonal which was followed by the lnvocatlon by the Reverend Keith Hauser A vocal solo by Dons Halstead preceded the valedrctory speech by Dons McAtee The Reverend Andrew E Kurth a pastor from Cedar Rapids presented the mam address of the evening entitled Here Am l The long awaited moment had finally arrlved Mr Bohr Introduced M' Merle Trltle who presented the diplomas The Reverend Hauser pronounced the benedrctlon Graduation suddenly became the usual noisy and jo ul occasion It always lS 1'-
