Flllllaglalnlhl Tllln FUTURE ln the year of 1930, we the Class of 54 recerved a Western Unron telegram from one of our former classmates of 53 Dons llalstead She rnformed us that she was makrn her frnal appearance at the Metropolrtan Opera House rn New York Crty New York Dorrs wante all of us to come to see her, srnce her fellow classmates of '53 were gorng to be there also She thought that rt would be a good opportunrty for all of us to renew old acquarntances So early one Monday momrng we boarded the X 54 and started on our excrtrng trrp to New York Crty There we were eeted by our fellow classmates of A ll S Drrectly from the arrport, we journeyed to the opera ouse where Dorrs was wartrn back stage She looked gorgeous rn her elaborate blue velvet gown We chatted wrth her brre y and then hurrred to our seats just before the frrst curtarn call After watchrng and lrstenrng to Dorrs s superb perforrrance, both classes were rnvrted by Dorrs to her palatral mansron rn one of the sumptuous suburbs of the crty Dorrs, now Mrs Marlan Bondza, rnformed ns that heropera star husband was on a short European tour By the trme we had talked over old trmes and enjoyed refreshments, rt was late and trme for us to leave We concluded, rf we took the 53 graduates home rn our jet, we could frnd out what they were dorng and where they were lrvrng So thankmg Dorrs for our enjoyable evenrng and congrat ulatrng her upon her successful career, we took a late departure Clrmbrn rnto our X 54, we were off to Boston Massachusetts whrch was our frrst stop lt was here that hyllrs lleefner was teachmg rn an elementary school Phyllrs, after teachmg chrldren of the arrstocrats for several years, had become qurte wealthy She showed us her charmmg home and her stream lrned, custom made car Even though she had never marrred, as we had expected she seemed very contented One of our classmates wanted to lrnger a lrttle longer but we had to be on our way The next sto on our trrp was at the Naval Academy at Annapolrs Maryland, where we let out Admrral Paul haffer The Class of 54 were very proud to see Paul teachmg rn the academy After takrngatourofthrsremarkable rnstrtutron we agarn clrnrbed aboard our jet and were on our way Our plane zoomed south toward Larry s new home whrch was located rn Atlanta Georgra W were not at all surprrsed when Larry told us of hrs polrtrcal career Our 54 graduates were greeted wrth old fashroned southern hosprtalrt by Larr s southern wrfe who was the daughter ol the nomrnated as the emocratrc senator from Ceorgra The re ort was that Larry would be elected as a favorrte son from the great state of Ceor ra Larry s ol classmates were very much rnterested rn hrs job they remembered so well the 0 d days at A ll S when he had been such a zealous student of polrtrcs Mramr Plorrda whrch was not too far from Atlanta was now Roberta s home Atlast we had found the secret of Roberta s beautrful tan lt was the Florrda sunshme whrch nrade Bert look so wonderfully healthy For the frrst trme on our trrp we stopped for a short relaxatron perrod Some of the A ll S graduates went rn swrmnrrng others ust lay around and absorbed the glorrous sun shrne Truly, thrs was one place all of us regrette leavrrg Roberta s modern resort, the swankr est rn all Florrda served as a wonderful place for us to spend the nrght Larly the next mornrng found us brddrng a reluctant good by to the B 81 B Resort The class now journeyed northward where we were to leave Davrd Wassmer at hrs darry farm rn Wrsconsrn After Dave had attended college at Ames lowa, he moved to the eat darry state, Wrsconsrn Berng mechanrcally mrnded, Dave had rnvented many new farm ga gets, the rncome from whrch had made hrm rndependently rrch ln fact, Dave was one of the few nrrllronarresrn the Unrted States At Davrd s persuasron we made a short stop at hrs estate, where mards butlers, and hrred help were much rn evrdence Some of the class, bern horse lovers, enjoyed a good horse back rrde whrle Dave showed the rest of us over hrs place rth Dave wavrng good by we took off trred andeagerto be on our way Our journey was about completed, for we now had but one 53 graduate wrth us lors was gettrng a lrttle worrred havrng left her husband and chrldren home alone She rnformed us that there probabl would be the usual chores to do when she got home, but she ap eared very ha y when our jet X 4 roared over Nebraska Thrs was one place we drdn t lrnger he class of 5 bade Lots a hasty good by and started our last lap We were very glad to arrrve at old A ll S , our destrnatron Most of us were very trred and weary after our long, but enjoyable trrp We hoped, that maybe rn the future, we could agarn clrmb aboard our X-54 and make anot er journey By Nancy llense Shrrley Class Barbara Boddrcker 1 1 's v 1 N L I , . . l 1 1 1 1 9 I P 5 a I , . . ., .
