In this modern day and age "school work" often means some- thing more than mere "book larnin". The classroom is still standard equipment for many coursesg but in an increasing num- ber of cases, the desk and black- board is at least partially replac- ed by the motion picture or prac- tical demonstration. For the vocational and com- mercial departments this holds especially true. The auto mechan- ics student often works on his own car and the members of a cooking class sample their own products. "Work" and "play" may become synonymous. It all depends on how you go about it. The Library, a monument to re- search, is available to all. fd' Ge' Vocational Selling introduces a modern course in consumer and sales problems. Jackie Milyard practices her sales technique with Tom Hagensick. I3 .a,.,.5p-A H ,, N- A W X 1351? EVERY CANDIDATE for grad- uation is thoroughly familiar with World History and its senior counterpart, U. S. History. The excellent history department of A. H. S. adds prestige to the en- tire school. Miss Mary Cole Dixon heads an energetic and well-informed faculty. Caesar, Napoleon, Pershing, Eisenhower . . . Mrs. Ruth Ker- keslager presents them all in World History. 1 A STUDY of the sciences pre- sented in A. H. S. provides a gen- eral foundation for future work. We are often reminded of scien- tific progress by the sight of a physics apparatus or the odor from a chemical reaction issuing from the lab. Dr. Eldred Harring- ton, scientist, author, and one of the most popular members of the faculty, supervises the scientific program. Mr, McDa.niel's 6th Period Chem-l istry Lab.
