Charles Booth rs commonly called Booth He
excells rn sports and talks and yells at the other players
and gets them too nervous to do anythrng well A
left end for the Bulldogs he more than held hrs own
rn blockmg tacklrng and pass recervrng
Playrng shoulder to shoulder wrth Booth rs Buck
Clayton the left tackle All who know Buck know
how he rs good natured and smrlrng but qurck to do
hrs part That goes for the football held also Super
frcrally he rs the same but underneath he plays the
game
Squattrng next to the left tackle rs the left guard
Thrs posrtron rs held down by Ha old Murdock one ot
the best lrked boys rn the school Harold acted as cap
tam of the team and as a reward a member of an op
posrng team left a gap rn hrs mouth as a souvenrr for a
task well done
Next and far from least rs the posrtron of center
whrch rs amply filled by Brll Otero Of all the posrtrons
on a football team thrs rs the least lrked srnce rt rs one
of the hardest to frll A lot of credrt should go to Brll
Otero for hrs splendrd Job of ball snapprng rn the past
years
A new fellow rn the school thrs year rs Donald
ones Don showed hrs abrlrty rn the field of sports
by better than well talcrng care of the rrght guard posr
tron Don rs famrlrar around school by the black letter
sweater wrth a red letter Soon he wrll wear a green
one wrth a whrte letter
Tall good lookrng Brll Gregg comes next rn lrne
for the Bulldogs l-le plays the posrtron of rrght tackle
Brll rs well known rn our football crrcles and wrll bc
better known when next year rolls around When a
fellow meets Brll he just rnstrnctrvely lrkes hrm

Because the flrst eleven men couldn t play all the tlme there are others
who must have played lhe e cannot be left out lhese players and thexr
posntnons are as follows
Donald llesselden substntute quarterback for ourdan
ldmond Smlth substltute guard for Murdock or ones
Alfred Staehlm substltute end for Booth or Harley
Orvllle Roberts substitute tackle for Clayton or Gregg
Ellsworth Hogan substitute ru.,ht hallback for Lantow
lm Myrrck substrtute center for Otero
Harold Pfaff substrtute guard for Murdock or ones
Luz Sanchez substltute left halfback for Hltchens
Steffen ohnson substitute fullback for Barela
Bcause these players are substntutes It rs of en true that a person IS rn
clmed to belleve that they are of no lmportance Well that lb very wrong
Notre Dame has four first strxng teams Three of these are SLlbStltL1tlDg team
and yet one lsn t any better than another These might be classed thas wat
at Albuquerque Hugh School only the flrst strung ns usually more accomplxshed
than the rest of the players Out of more than 2 000 students m Albuquerque
Hugh only about four per cent turned out for football and got sunts It lb more
a disgrace to get a sunt and then quxt than not beln able to get a sult at all
attentron whatever wlll be pald to them but there they are wrong The mne
fellows above were the best amonv those who realized th1S and for their
shrewdness they made letters ln football
The workers behmd the teams are the managers Short Stuff Donald
Alderman and Bob Garcxa were the small but capable team backers These

Bullpups
ln the above plcture you may see portrayed the vxsages of the fellows
who didn t qulte become a part of the Bulldog basketball team lt IS no slam

The Bullpups are first and foremost the llttle Bulldogs ln the past
they have been mighty llttle mites fas a look at their record wlll prove and
thus year xs no exceptlon They are the power behmd the throne and sooner

District Tournament
lt is rather difficult to comment on thus partlcular phase of athletxcs ln the
Albuquerque High School The Bulldogs or the Dukes as they were fre
quently called drew Quemado for the first game Th1S one went over rather
easily wlth the players showmg up ln swell form The second game agalnst
St Mary s didn t go as well as the first but we won by a safe margm
ln the semi finals the Bulldogs played Socorro It was a hard game and
the Dukes were nosed out by one pomt This was rather demorahzmg because
It meant that the team couldn t go to the state tournament Thus rs the thnrd
trme that this has happened ln seventeen years
In the consolatlon game wlth Grants we were nosed out By the book
of rules the team ln fourth place gets the tournament ball As predrcted
George Leavltt was chosen captam and recexved the ball Here s hopmg he
wxll be a leader m the future as he has been ln the past
