Ierry Smith faithfully counted and recorded the money brought in by the after-school candy sales under the direction of Fritz Neidert and his co- workers, Clark Kuhn, john Paul, Ioe Saeva, Paul VanStone, Richard Grimbel, Robert Leigh, and Eugene Haines. The candy sellers have reported about S10 worth of candy gnawed plus five trapped mice which proves that the mystery of the mice in the candy room is still unsolved. Proceedings which were brought by the class against the candy sellers charging graft were dropped after one day's session. The Class of 1951 began its series of activities with the traditional Senior Tea for faculty and parents. Mrs. Keeler, our vice-president's mother, and Sara Cole, our class secretary, presided at the tea table. Arrangements for the tea were capably handled by Bonnie O'Kane. On November 10, the seniors displayed their dramatic talents in The Charm School which starred Rodger Clark and Barbara Bower. On December 18, the boys prepared meat loaf and baked potatoes, decorated the cafeteria with a fireplace scene and Christmas tree. dressed up LeRoy Burroughs in a Santa Claus suit, and enter- tained the girls of the class at a Christmas Party. The class enjoyed two roller-skating parties, one on November 20 and the other on February 20. We also spent one cold winter night tobaggoning on Pine Hill. The Easter Ball was a social, if not a financial, success. The evening in the park theme in black and silver worked out by Marcia Boyle and her committee pro- vided just the right atmosphere for dancing. Sonny Dow's orchestra, chosen by George Ingram and committee, furnished smooth music. aloe Saeva headed the ticket committee. The class publicity staff headed by Barbara Lancto provided posters. As the Chevron goes to press, graduation activities have begun. Graduation announcements have been ordered, calling cards ordered by Betty Sanford and Marie Bicei are being exchanged, the Approved List is posted ,and committees are working on Class Night. Chairmen of the various committees are as follows: Marcia Boyle, Prophecy, Barbara Lancto, Gifts to Seniors, Ioe Saeva, Willy Marcia Forder, Senior Party, 11aze1 Dickinson, Senior Gift to School. The girls plan to repay the boys for their hospitality with a picnic at flamlin Beach. Class Night, Baccalaureate, Graduation, Alumni Banquet, Alumni Ball - and so end our school days together as the Class of 1951. This vear we have met once a month in 238. The familiar words, "Will the meeting please come to order" by our capable president, 'lack McKenna, roll call by -lean Forder, recording secretary, and "There are many outstanding hills to be voted on" hy our treasurer, Norman Ireland, all start the meeting off with a feeling of true Democracy. loan Larwood, corresponding secretary, llcrman Hicks, vice-president, and Mr. Anderson, faculty advisor, must not he forgotten for they also played an important part in our Student Council planning this year. ln the fall a delegation attended a Student Council conference at Akron Central 5 School and learned ways to improve our present council. At Christmas time, lean -Iackson headed a committee on remodeling toys to make a happier Christmas for many children. Setting up a new party system for our spring Student Council elections has been one of our main projects. The drawing up of a party platform and having a real nominating convention were new experiences for most of us. Judy Clark and her committee did a swell job and we are proud of our new election system. We sent six delegates to represent us at the Social Forum at Benjamin Franklin High School. iUN IOR RED CROSS The junior Red Cross began another successful year Linder the co-chairmanship of Kenneth Collins and Sandra Hargrave, and the direction of Miss Dillaura. Elec- tions were held in the home rooms for Council members and alternates. livery student of Albion High is a member of the Junior Red Cross, but all are not active members. Many activities have been carried out by the junior Red Cross this year. Colorful nut cups and tray favors were made for the llatavia Veterans' Hospital on every holi- day. At Christmas time, several girls spent many hours making wreaths and sprays of pine and holly to brighten the wards. Gifts were colorfully yvrappecl and sent also. lhese services were greatly appreciated by the men at the hospital. ln lnternational Activities, gift boxes containing educational and healthful articles have been sent to children overseas. Artistically talented students of Albion lligh have painted scenes of American life to send to Europe through the American Red Cross. ln community services, the lied Cross members have assisted in the Cancer Drive, Fund Drive. and Pied Cross Blood Program. Several members attended a disaster clinic where they learned their duties to the community in case ol' an atomic attack. The activities of this year's Iunior Red Cross have been beneficial not only to our community but also abroad. Loyal council members have truly learned the meaning of service. The Listeners Club tried to give its members samples of all types of music and elevate preferences and promote "long-hair" music. To enjoy really beautiful music, opera, light opera, chamber music, and symphonies, one must learn to understand and to "live" each beat, each note and to let the strains flow into the soul and become part of it. This is the principle on which the club worked. At each meeting, the club hour was devoted to one specific type of music. lncluded in our listenings were western, hill-billy, popular, musical comedy and light opera. Mr. D'Amico gave us one of our most delightful club meetings by talking to us and helping us to understand classical music. He played his records of "Some Enchanted Evening", "Nutcracker Suite", and "Rhapsody in Blue". AUDIO-VISUAL CLUB The Audio-Visual Club, under the direction of Mr. Rickey, is the most active service club in Albion High School. KNITTING CLUB As a new idea this year, the Knitting Club was formed to include those students who wished to have knitting as their hobby. Under the direction of Mrs. Schnitzer and Miss Valnia, the girls chose Marcia Boyle as President, Sandra Hargrove as Vice-Presi- dent, and Marcia Forder as Secretary. The only objective of this club is for the girls to knit as many articles as possible during the school year. Sweaters and socks are the common articles but some girls are working on other things according to their tastes, such as scarfs and mittens, Girls who forget their knitting on club days are furnished with yarn and needles and work on squares for a Red Cross blanket. Though the record wasn't too impressive, with four wins and seven losses, it was slightly improved over the previous year. First year lettermen were David Noreck, Donald Pawlaczyk, Ronald Radzinski, Stan Telga, Bill Smith, and Roger Wagner. john Ferris also received a letter as manager. This year's team is expected to go places! So far they have demonstrated to Coach Biordi, their team cooperation and spirit. The team has the promise of being a winning combination. Returning lettermen, nearly all of last year's squad, are Tom Brown, a P. G., Iohn Merrill, Lenny Nayman, John Paul, and Paul VanStone, seniors, David Noreck, Ronald Radzinski, and Stan Telga, juniors, and Donald Pawlaczyk, a sophomore.
