One purpose of the club is to practice citizenship among high school students. The club also serves the school and community in many ways. We have candy sales, car washes, and this year we helped the Downtown Action Association with an Easter Parade. The biggest project that the club had is working with the T.M.R. Class at school. We work with them individually and raise money to aid them. 118Future Business Leaders of America Future Business Leaders of America — but also leaders of today. 1980-81 was a very good year for F.B.L.A. At Home-comimg we had a truck for the top Tom-Wat salesmen, and a car for Mr. and Mrs. F.B.L.A. At Christrmas we donated food to a needy family and had a Christmas party. During the monthly meetings, we had business executives come and talk with us about their professions. We ended the year by participating in the "Almost Anything Goes’’ competition, and elected and initiated the F.B.L.A. officers for the 1981 -82 year. Bottom: left to right: Secretary. We've learned a lot during our school years, but not just about science, math. English, and history. We've learned to laugh and enjoy life, we've learned to cry and hurt, we've learned when to speak up and when to shut up. we've learned when to listen and understand. we ve learned when to talk and explain, we've learned to accept some things as they are and to work to change others, we ve learned what true friends are. we’ve learned to stand up for what we believe, and we’ve learned how to live life to the fullest. We've done a lot of growing up these past years but we've still got a lot of growing up to do. We’ve made a lot of mistakes and will make a lot more. But by knowing when and how we ve made them we know hovy to prevent the same mistakes again . .Salutatorian — Mari Evans Mari Beth graduated with a 97.2 grade point average, and plans to attend Auburn University on an Alumni Academic Scholarship. "As we prepare today to leave the warm familiarity of Albertville High School and step out into the unknown, we are faced with a multitude of decisions, most of them concerning our futures. The past four years have told us much about our capabilities, our weak points, our interests, and our goals. We must interpret our findings into a realistic life plan, the blueprint for the person we wish to be . . . . . Not everyone can be good at everything. No one can achieve the highest mark at each endeavor — it just doesn't work that way. People are made with some weaknesses — it's part of the Master Plan for interdependence. If we could rely upon ourselves for every need, there would be no reason for interaction with others. If everyone achieved the same goals and held the same status on the success ladder, how would we measure our accomplishments?’’ 219Deserving Students Janet Gentry — Spanish award.
