General science is taught in junior high. lt is a stntlv of evervtlav science which provitles a goocl hack- grountl for the more aclvancecl courses in senior high. ln biology, the sophomores learn the various levels of plant ancl animal life when they aren't col- lecting insects or clisecting earthworms ancl frogs. Physics is the first scientihc course that is not a required one. The juniors learn the workings ol machines atul how work is made easier by machines. They also learn various formulae and laws, and set up experiments to prove what they have learned. lhe most aclvancecl course in high school science is cheniistrv. lllflllSll'iOllS seniors work on formulae and stutlv the hasic eletuents. Using the hasic ele- ments in their experiments, the future scientists strive to better unclerstancl the mysteries ol' chemistry.

Guiflgmfc Square dancing made its way into the activities of both the boys' and girls' physical education classes this past year. For the boys it was the hrst tilne that square dancing has been a part of their regular gym classes. They were slow starters but once they learned they enjoyed it lor the lour weeks during which it was a part of their regular classes. The other sports the girls competed in included volleyball, basketball, soccer, softball, tumbling and the required exercises. For the boys, basketball and football were again the principal sports. while wrestling, volleyball, kit- tenball, tumbling and exercises were stressed. Health and lirst aid classes were held for all the senior high students. They were taught by the gyin in- structors, Mr. Paul XVilke, Miss Lois Spencer, Miss Donna Heise and Mr. LeRoy Maas. The classes were held four days a week with physical education held on the fifth. This program offered training for the students in these courses as well as providing for the physical welfare ol' the body in the physical education courses. Page IS
