As you depart the Western Pacific enroute home to rejoin families and friends, you can do so with the knowledge and satisfac- tion that you have made a significant con- tribution to our Nation's mission in South East Asia. Throughout an extended eight- month deployment, Big AI has done it all in a highly professional and exceptionally reliable manner. Best wishes for a safe journey and ajoyous homecoming. RADM ROGERS WELL DONE . . . As you proceed home to Long Beach after being extended in the Western Pacific for two months, the officers and men of USS ALBERT DA VID can take deep pride in their significant contributions to the prose- cution of the war. Although your extension in the combat zone has caused many diffi- culties for your personnel and their fam- ilies, ALBERT DA VID 'S fire missions against tanks, troops and supplies, unde- terred by hostile artillery and rocket fire, have been important to the effectiveness of our fire support operations, inflicting serious damage on the enemy and saving friendly lives. I am aware of the high tempo of operations you have sustained and the sacrifice of your men during your deployment of nearly eight months. I want you to know your dedication and your accomplishments are fully appreciated. Well done. ADMIRAL D. A. CLAREY, USN Commander in Chief U.S. Pacific Fleet SAYONARA . . . At long last, Long Beach beckons ALBERT DA VID home. Extended nearly three months beyond original outchop date, the reputation that you have earned for de- pendability has been well deserved. Oper- ations in a multi-threat environment which your primary ASW capabilities were not meant to handle, time and again you came through in the clutch with a stellar combat performance. Whether it was pounding the enemy with rapid fire from mounts 51 and 52, escort duties for CVAXPIRAZXAAW or SPECOPS, ALBERT DA VID met every commitment by maintaining maximum readiness and reliability. To one of the most solid performers in Seventh Fleet, I say well done and best wishes for a happy Stateside Fourth of July. VADM J. L. HOLLOWAYIII, USN WELCOME HOME . . . Welcome home after your highly suc- cessful extended deployment. Every man aboard can be justifiably proud of his indi- vidual contributions to ALBERTDA VID 'S part in the U.S. effort in Southeast Asia. Having personally had the opportunity of working with you in Westpac, I am cer- tain that all accolades received were richly deserved. Enjoy your reunions with fam- ilies and loved ones. Well donen and welcome home. RADM BER GIN SENDS WELCOME HOME . . . Destroyer Squadron Thirteen Eastpac iS proud of its combatant Westpac squadron mate. We are delighted to welcome you back home again after your particularly long and exciting deployment and onlY wish we all could be on the pier when you do arrive. Best wishes for a wonderful homecoming.
