SOCIAL STUDIES, Dave De Hart is one of many teachers here at AHS that have attended UC Berkeley. A Burbank, California native, he came to Berkeley, and was quickly awakened to the world outside of his conservative High School. He found himself ignorant and uneducated about current events, the Vietnam War, and the radical protests of the times. This ig- norance was one ofthe reasons he decided to become a teacher, so that students would be aware of the world, people and events around them. De Hart is known for his field trips. He takes Juniors In his US History classes to the Oakland Museum, and to Alcatraz Island. Hls Seniors In US Government take a trip to Court in the Spring.
