Blumer. 36Our Champ Rick ('lark Sophomore Rick Clark culminated a tremendous individual cross country season by being crowned the W.I.A.A. CCS Slate Champion. It was the first time in the history of Wisconsin cross country that a sophomore had won the state title. Ilis time at 11.08.25 was nearly three full seconds ahead of runner-up Dennis Brown of Dodgeville. Rick’s exploits throughout the year included individual championships at the Shawano. Verona, and Jefferson Invitationals. and a fifth and eighth place finish at Beaver Dam and Oshkosh respectively. Brown defeated Clark in both the Albany Invitational and Sectional Championships. Rick accounted for three school records during the season.
