CQMMANDER H, M. ROGERS Executive Officer ALBANY's Executive Officer started his Naval career as a Midshipman at the United States Naval Academy. After graduating in 1945, as a member of the Class of 1946,he reported aboard the battleship USS MASSACHUSETTS for his first tour of duty. After a brief tour as Commanding Officer of the USS LCS QL5 120, Commander Rogers served as Executive Officer of the USS LSMR 409, a rocket launching ship homeported in San Diego. He then reported for flight training at the Naval Air Station, Dallas. His trai ' ning was interrupted to serve as Executive Officer of the US ' S PCS 1400, an air-sea rescue ship at Kodiak Alaska. Commander Rogers resumed his flight training and flew Hellcats and F4U Corsairs, qualifying for carrier landings aboard the USS WRIGHT QCVL-495. He then assumed the duties of Gunnery Officer in the USS CALOOSAHAT- CHEE .QAO-985, in Newport. His next assignment took him to the West Coast and the USS MONO- GAHELA QAO-425, homeported in Long Beach, HS Navigator and Operations Officer.
