Wohler, USN, graduated from the United States Naval Academy in June 1943, and began his career under war- time conditions. He served in the Atlantic and Mediterranean aboard the cruiser USS OMAHA QCL-45 and carrier USS TARAWA QCV-409. After the war he was promoted to Lieutenant with orders to report to the U. S. Naval Intelligence School for Post Graduate training. After completion of the Intelligence School plus the translator's and interpre- 1 ter s course in Russian, he became h d f ea o the U. S. S. R. desk inthe Office of Naval Intell' ' igence, serving also as special liason officer for the return of the cruiser Mur- rnansk by the Soviets in March 1949. After tsehloutbreak of war in Korea, Lieutenant O . . er served as Assistant Intelligence Officer on the staff of C ommander Naval Forces, Far East. CQMMANDER H, M. ROGERS Executive Officer ALBANY's Executive Officer started his Naval career as a Midshipman at the United States Naval Academy. After graduating in 1945, as a member of the Class of 1946,he reported aboard the battleship USS MASSACHUSETTS for his first tour of duty. After a brief tour as Commanding Officer of the USS LCS QL5 120, Commander Rogers served as Executive Officer of the USS LSMR 409, a rocket launching ship homeported in San Diego. He then reported for flight training at the Naval Air Station, Dallas. His trai ' ning was interrupted to serve as Executive Officer of the US ' S PCS 1400, an air-sea rescue ship at Kodiak Alaska. Commander Rogers resumed his flight training and flew Hellcats and F4U Corsairs, qualifying for carrier landings aboard the USS WRIGHT QCVL-495. He then assumed the duties of Gunnery Officer in the USS CALOOSAHAT- CHEE .QAO-985, in Newport. His next assignment took him to the West Coast and the USS MONO- GAHELA QAO-425, homeported in Long Beach, HS Navigator and Operations Officer.
