Masquerade Ball Home- ng nce held on October 31, was the masqurade ball of the year. Almost everyone wore costumes to the dance. Some of the people showed up in costumes that ranged from Mick- ey and Minny mouse, to flappers and gangsters, Rambos and life guards. “T liked most of the cos- tumes, people had great imaginations this year.” 10 Masquerade ball said Tim Folsom, junior. ‘““It was the best dance I’ve been to this school year Tony Patterson, junior. WHAT'S NEW? here were many differ- ent fads an fashions re- presented at Alameda High. Hanging suspend- ers, Esprit bags, scrunchy socks, Guess? jean jackets, shades, and rockers were only a few of these fads and fash- ions. Hanging suspenders? Students wore them with jeans or baggies, but they were almost never worn on their shoulders 12 Fads Fashion People carrying multi-colore sprit ags crowded the halls. ese oversize ags were usually loade with Mr. Dare’s U.S. history book, Mrs. Gal- lagher’s geometry book, or Mr. Brooks’ physiol- ogy book. Guess? No, not jeans, but jean jackets. From stone-washed to indigo, Guess? jackets were the latest fad. The fad that never faded was, you guessed it, shades. ‘“‘Everyone Headbangers - Chad Tucker and Justin Blok show off their locks. Sung- lasses, jeans, and t- shirts complete the rocker look. looks good in sunglasses. They make everyone ook cool,” commented Ms. Carmel Zimmer- man, teacher. At the cir- cle or in the streets, these optics will always be in style. “Tt’s all right to call us rockers,” stated Justin Blok. Rockers were the people who listened to heavy metal, and wore jeans and t-shirts. Rockers, like everyone else, showed a distinct style through their mu- sic, dance, and dress.
