Basketball ABSENT FROM PICTURE: Mrs. Patricia Peace-Modern Dance, Advisor Modern Dance Club Physical Education Teaches Cooperation .-Xt last swimming has been added to the long list of activities offered by Alameda Highs Physieal lidueation department. Students now can learn to swim as well as participate in other sports. In the Modern Danee classes the girls learn to coordinate their movements and to express themselves through the medium of dance. Both boys and girls learn the prineipals of teamwork as well as the fundamentals of various sports: they may develop skills in one oi' more sports. Before graduation they must pass two courses in First Aid which are taken in the Junior year. Hygiene is also taught eaeh term. Breakfasts, luneheons, and dinners are planned, prepared, served. and eaten by the three or four girls who work together in each kitchen. The Homemaking apartment is also used hy these classes. Georgia Waters, Pat Weber, and Marcia Elcdahl find that clothing classes are fun and very helpful. The boys at Alameda High School are offered mans varied types of Industrial arts which include auto, electrical, mood. radio. and machine shops. 'lihese classes give the student an opportunity to de- velop his particular hobby or to train for a career.
