MESSAGE The school strives to build a democratic friendly spirit which bestows admiration on individual accomplishment, and creates friendliness and interest on the part of both students and faculty. Through the student body government, class activities, and clubs it aims to develop the ability to work with others in a democratic way and to develop the social side of the student’s nature. The school stands for high scholarship so that the students may be better prepared for the life that will follow graduation. It believes that strenuous work is a very definite preparation for that life. The school stands for the essence of good sportsmanship as revealed in the ability both to greet victory with enthusiasm and to accept defeat with grace. It aims to create school loyalty so that every student will have a pride in his school and be loyal to its ideals and traditions. In summary, Alameda High School strives to foster an environment conducive to preparation both for a living and for life. The young men of ancient Athens took an oath that they would transmit their fatherland, “not only not less, but greater and better than it was transmitted to them.” I would urge you, the students of Alameda High School, to transmit your school, not only not less, but greater and better than it was transmitted to you. The preparation and publication of a year book such as our AcoRN is a difficult and arduous task. To Mrs. Le Hew, faculty adviser, Don Ed- wards, editor, Frederick Maurer, business manager, and the Acorn Staff I extend my sincere thanks and my hearty congratulations for the splendid service they have given the school .
