Prophecy With a low, mournful groan, the heavy oaken door slowly swung open on its rusty hinges, revealing a scene of mystery. It was a dim, dusty chamber, oblong in shape with its farther-most reaches so clothed in dust and cobwebs that l could not distinguish what lay there. With the wan light that was available, I could see that the walls were lined with tremendous volumes of books, their titles obscure with dust. As I stood gazing about in wonderment and astonishment, an even more amazing and mysterious thing occurred. Suddenly, as if by magic, through a small opening at the top of the room, a shaft of sunlight streamed through and as though it were guided by some unknown presence focused on a particular volume. With strange magnetism I seemed drawn and almost compelled to remove the book and explore its contents. With shaking hand I wiped away the dust, and bold print jumped up at me, THE VOLUME OF THE FUTURE FOR THE CLASS OF 55. And within the covers I found that the lives of my classmates had been shaped by fate thus: Katherine Anderson is world-renowned for her research work on the Atomic Bomb, and her discoveries relating to the atom. Patsy Sharpe once considered a shy little soul is a tremendous success on her lecture tour through the U.S. and Europe. The subject of her lecture is Feminine Poise. Catherine Hackett, the gal with the gorgeous auburn hair, put that hair to work for her. She now models for all the shampoo ads. The dark, petite, efficient foreign ambassador to Italy is Irene Gorrell. She is a very successful diplomat. June Kivett's fame is steadily on the upward swing due to her tremendous feats in the fashion world as assistant to Christian Dior. All the beautiful coiffures that the movie queens are sporting are shaped to per- fection by the talented Betty Andrews who at present owns her own salon in Hollywood. Warren Whitt has done well in the political realm, and at present is serving his first term in the Senate. Stock market reports have it that Bill Allred as a prominent broker, is making millions on Wall Street. He is happily married to a famous New York society beauty. Lee Snider is really dazzling the sports world with his amazing feats on the basketball court with one of those professional teams. John May is getting praise from the critics on his superb performances as lead man in a Broadway play. Barbara King is doing a first rate job as a top executive at Columbia Broadcasting Co. in New York. That's Wilma Coble's by-line you read on all the big news scoops. She's top AP correspondent in New York. Martha Robinson's path led her to an archeologists field and her recent unearthings in Egypt are startling.
