Case I955 The story you are about to read is true. Names and places are the same because we are innocent. The time is 1951, the place, Alamance High School, the characters, 55 clamoring Freshmen entering high school. The laughing ceases, things are quieter now and the matter is no longer funny. Rules and regulations are given to us by Mr. Morgan, the Home Room teacher. Things move swiftly and quietly. It is spring, and the class takes a trip to Chapel Hill for the purpose of visiting the planetarium. Summer comes and goes. We enter high school for the second year. Things go along smoothly for us. We study, work and play. The hi-light of this year is a trip to White Lake. The class charters a bus and spends the day. We all come home with sun burns and for a few days we are not quite so cheerful. Time is marching on. It is graduation and we have the honor of carrying the daisy chain for the seniors. The year is over. It is summer again. Vacation passes as quickly as it comes. School opens and we are juniors. Our class is much smaller now, but the spirit is deeper and more real to us. The first big event is the baby contest we sponsor. Co-operation is in full force and the contest is a success. Next class rings are ordered. They arrive December 16, 1953. Needless to say how proud we were! At last it is time for the long awaited Junior-Senior Banquet. This is the most exciting thing that ever happened to us, especially the girls who are interested in evening dresses with corsages. One thing leads to another and we find ourselves in the middle of the junior play. After three weeks of hard practice, Hillbilly Weddin ' is presented, and it is a big success. Our class funds are increased consider- ably. It is spring again and graduation activities take the spotlight. Once again we will carry the daisy chain. Tubs, baskets and everything is filled with daisies. The chain is completed and graduation is over all too soon. Vacation comes and goes as usual. We enter school for the last time. Now we are Seniors, and we think we have reached the top, but not for long. When the annual, newspaper, elections and programs to plan snow us under, we realize just how little we really are. We manage to survive, all 19 of us. Superlatives are elected and the worthy ones receive the honors. Wilma Coble is the Civitan Award winner. Martha Robinson represents Alamance in the Greensboro Christmas Parade. Christmas comes and goes. It is now Spring. The yearbook comes from the press, and we spend hours autographing. Then graduation: now we part, we go our separate ways and remember' all we can about the class of 1955. Case is closed, Historian Bill Allred
