The 72-73 Akron Flyers were one of the best teams the
school has known. Our boys brought home a trophy from Triton
and compiled a 17-4 record. Under the guidance of Mr. Floyd
Hanson, the Flyers worked together as a team and beat some of
the best basketball squads around, such as Winamac, Whitke, and
most of all, John Glenn, who was ranked in the state and had one
of the states' top scorers. The community of Akron had much to
be proud of with these boys and showed it with their support and
attendance to the games.

gether, and on May 21, 1973, they be-
came graduates together. It was a year
of "breaking tradition" as there was not
a main speaker. Members of the class
gave speeches that were felt deep with-
in the hearts and emotions of their fel-
low classmates. Tom Weaver was
named valedictorian, and Royce Shew-
man, salutatorian of the class. Both
gave speeches along with Phil Rur1k1e,
Sally Leckrone, and Mark Hartzler.
As we said "Good-bye" to Akron
High School
And the happy times we'd had
It's not a bit surprising that we
felt a little sad
But a brand-new life awaits us
And We're hoping that we'll find
The days ahead still happier
Than those we left behind
