OKLAHOMA! was chosen because of its true American flavor, its down-to-earth, folksy music, and its colorful view of the frontier. The ACS production of this Qxix 3 ' I great musical was under the direction of Richard Shaw with Carol Martin and Philip Brackett acting as student mana- gers. Given March 9-10, the musical was one of the most successful productions in the hist y of the CAST: school. 1 lm' Curly . . . . . Ross Harshbarger Laurey. . . . . Nancy Phelps Will ..... . . Although they finished in a third-place tie in the Oatka League standings, the lowest an Akron squad has placed since joining the conference in the 1952 season, they won four out of seven contests, one duel ending in a tie. The team outscored their rivals by a wide mar- gin of 104 to 77. The seniors on the 1955 squad were Richard Cory, Charles Casseri, Earl Kinne, Clayton Albrecht, Ray- mond Burchell, Robert Johnson, Robert Summe, Mal- colm Wagner, and Michael Finch. High points of the season were t e victories over Perry and Alden by scores of 13 - 7 and 13 - , respectively, in contests played on the A.C.S. gridiron. As the scores would indicate, both of these games were hard fought. At the conclusion of the schedule, Richard Cory was voted by the players and coaches as being the team's most valuable player. Clayton Albrecht, Charles Casseri, and Robert Johnson also re- ceived votes. The future for the Tigers looks bright. With Marvin Deahn, Gerald Bistoff, James Brand, Neal Printup, Legrand McCormick, David Christie, and Leon Frey returning, the line will remain practically intact. These players will combine with backfield- men James Downey, the high-scorer of the '55 aggregation, Ray- mond Parker, and newcomers Melvin Faulker and Ronald Medole to form an eleven which will be capable of giving any team in the area a tough struggle.
