It's The Quality, Not Quantit -'-l Ajo football fans were treated to precision drills performed by the Raider Band and intricate routines by both the Majorettes and Poms. What fans didn't see were the countless hours of practice that it took for a single I5 minute performance. Each morning 32 sleepy people awoke at ex- tremly early hours to practice. Practice began at 7:05 in the morning and ended at 9:05. For an hour and ten minutes, the Band had to roll up their pants and march through the puddles of mud. This year the Band had decreased in size, but that has not decreased their spirit or moral. They still take pride and accomplish, exactly, if not, more of the skill they had in years passed when the Band was much larger. The Band was under the direction of Mr. Paul Cosand, who succeeded Mr. Ken Cheeseman. Mr. Cosand is a graduate of the U. of A., and has a degree in music. He came to Ajo from Gila Bend, where he previously taught the Band there. Mr. Cosand's reaction was that the Band wasn't big, but the sound and the talent made up for the lack of size. Besides playing for all of the home football games, the Band also performed at all pep rallies and assemblies. They also performed at the A.S.U. Band Day and received an outstanding grade. The Band also performed at the State Fair. After the parade, the Band enjoyed a fun filled day at the Fair. 84! BAND A - ,Q-, , s l 1 in ix! if
