I h V'k' N G U N g p 1 1 I l 1 ILTHOUGH SOME STRONG points to the game were evident, the Flyers feathered the Vikes. Stanley Brown and Willie Smith ave good punt ad kickoff returns duringxthe night. Bo Spataro, senior receiver, caught two key passes from quarterback Blaine Laughlin and dguring the ame anne ran a few yards of is own. The running backs, james Sweeney and Theodore Davis, had a hard running game. The offense and defense ere strong, but because of a few costly errors and penalties, Loyola won I3-0. E KNIGHTS SPEARED the Vikes at the Caddo Parish Stadium. Airline's running backs had a great night. With a short pass from quaterback ine Laughlin, james Sweeney rushed 25 yards and Theodore Davis ran 20 yards for a touchdown. Six points were gained when Willie Smith de a 66 yard touchdown pass reception run. Willie ended with a total of 72 yards. Airline did not benefit from the many Knight mistakes, but e Knights benefitted many times. They gained a touchdown from an intercepted pass. Knights-21, AHS-12. ANLEY BROWN SCORED early in the Haughton-Airline game with a 2 yard touchdown leap. Eddie Plaza made the extra point. The AHS :fense did well in holding back the Bucs unti the second quarter when the Bucs scored. The halftime score was 7-6 AHS. The Vikes could not -Fld the Bucs off. Haughton scored and then went for the 2 point conversion. The Bucs went on to score in the final minutes of the ame. Bucs- S , AHS-7. B - I 1 I -1 l I S PLOUGHED OVER the Falcons on the Viking home field. Stanley Brown made two of the three touchdowns and Clifford Russell made the er touchdown that won the game. The Falcons did not have a chance because the Vikings were determined to win. The defense dominated game and the offense moved the ball effectively. Airline won, I8-0. E DEFENSE PLAYED a great game as Airline brewed Byrd. Stanley Brown scored two touchdowns, intercepted a pass and had 17 rushes for 90 ds. Theodore Davis ran 'I00 yards during the game and Bubba Toney scored his first touchdown of the season from a short pass thrown by ine Laughlin. Vikes-O, Byrd-0. EN OAKS EDGED out the Vikings as they played Airline's homecoming game. The game was full of surprises, though. Willie Smith scored the touchdown on a 6 yard pass set up by Theodore Davis. After Blaine Laughlin scored the second touchdown Eddie Plaza recovered his own ide kick. Unfortunately, Green Oaks benefitted from a few miscalled plays by the referees and scored a total of three touchdowns and two a points. Green Oaks-20, AHS-13. PTAIN SHREVE COOKED AHS. Airline scored only one touchdown in the second half. The Gators led early in the game and by halftime the re was 35-0. The Vikings could not seem to catch up to the Gators because Captain Shreve gained one more touchdown before the game was r leaving the score Captain Shreve 4'I, Airline 6. IN THE RIVALS, Bossier and Airline, came together to fight for the trophy iven to the winning team. Defense played a major part in this e. During the first half, Airline managed to gain a safety. The offense warmeg up durin the second half of the game, but the Bearkats were first to score followed by Airline. T at was not enough, though. The Bearkats scorer? once more beating Air ine 14 to 8. LINE KNOCKED OVER Natchitoches at Turpin Stadium in Natchitoches. Stanley Brown scored twice for the Vikings and rushed 63 yards. ne Laughlin made a 3Q yard pass caught by Stanley Brown which brou ht a-touchdown and, later in the game, he made a 41 yard sprint into the zone. Theodore Davis rushed for 106 yards and also made a 36 yard Sash into the end zone for another six points. Blaine Laughlin scored on a mble from the one yard line. AHS-27, Chiefs-20. INE PETRIFIED PARKWAY for a 7-6 victory. The Vikes held back the Panthers with a little help from Willie Smith He broke up a 2 point ersion attempt. Airline had a strong game. Huey McCray made 'IS tackles and Theodore Davis rushed for 135 yards.'Sean also punted seven s for an average of 42 yards. AHS-7, Panthers-6. Football 189
