Teachers Reall Did Have Pets Many of Airline's teachers have pets at home, as well as in the classroom. Cats and dogs are the most popular pets owned by some of the faculty, such as Susan Willis' lrish wolfhound, Kaye Chandler's dober- man, and Ann Allred's Himalayan cat. Pets like these, along with ham- sters, birds, and fish are i ,Q 5, also quite common. However, some teach- ers' pets are a little off- beat. Goats, raccoons, and even alligators are a few of these oddities. But Nancy Allen's collec- tion of Teddy bears is probably the best exam- ple of a teacher's pets. MR. Most teachers now this and have definite plans t the beginning of the year that uide them through to the end. A majority of teachers concern hemselves primarily with their upils. They concentrate on pre- aring, instructing, and communi- ating with students effectively. These special teachers try to be influential morally and intellectu- ally. Their goal is also to encour- age youth to be proud of them- selves and their school work. Another group of teachers want high school to be fun, as well as instructive. They work hard to keep their students interested. Creativity is stressed and ideas are discussed in these teachers' class- rtant Goals rooms. The faculty seems to agree that being the best teacher possible is of paramount importance. Their overall goal is to do their job with patience, care, and understand- ing. Our teachers want the stu- dents to learn not only the re- quired material, but also to learn about themselves. Faculty 133 Mrss Daphne Coleman
